Why Choose Us
Three things we can show you, not just tell you.
Yard problems show up at night and on weekends: a downed limb after a windstorm, water creeping toward the garage in a January downpour. Our line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You talk to someone who can tell you what to do right now and book a free on-site estimate, instead of leaving a voicemail and waiting for Monday.
Most yards need several trades: regrading, a drain line, a wall, sod, plants and ongoing mowing. We offer 27 landscaping services under one roof, so the same crew that fixes the drainage also lays the sod and keeps it mowed. You are not scheduling three contractors or paying one to undo another's shortcut.
Washington law requires a utility locate before digging, and we request one before every excavation. Under the surface we do the work that decides how long a project lasts: perforated pipe, drain rock and filter fabric behind block walls, a regraded base and new soil under sod. The photos on this site show those steps on our own jobs.

Problems We Fix
Southwest Washington's long, wet winters and heavy soils create the same handful of problems in yard after yard. These are the ones we fix most.
Moss is a symptom: shade, compacted or acidic soil and ground that stays wet all winter. Killing it without fixing the cause just buys a few months. We pair moss removal and treatment with dethatching, aeration, overseeding or, when a lawn is too far gone, regrading and new sod.
WSU Extension lists poor drainage, compaction, heavy shade, acidic soil and low fertility as the conditions that let moss take over lawns.Puddles that last for days, a lawn that squishes in March, or a crawlspace that smells damp all point to water with nowhere to go. We find the source, whether it is the grade, a buried downspout or a perched water table over clay, and fix it with French drains, downspout lines and catch basins or regrading.
Each inch of rain on 1,000 square feet of roof produces about 623 gallons of runoff (1 inch over 1 square foot is 0.623 gallons per). Downspouts dump that next to your foundation.Himalayan blackberry and English ivy spread fast in our climate and swallow fences, sheds and trees. Mowing the tops does little because the root crowns resprout. Our blackberry and ivy removal digs out crowns, and our brush clearing crew uses a mini excavator for big stands.
Himalayan blackberry is a Class C noxious weed in Washington, listed by the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board, and English ivy was added to the state quarantine list in 2025.Most failed walls we see were built without drainage behind them. Saturated soil pushes harder than dry soil, and the wall leans, bulges or cracks. We rebuild with perforated pipe, drain rock and filter fabric, or repair the wall when the base is sound.
Under the International Residential Code adopted in Washington, walls over 4 feet from the bottom of the footing, or walls holding back a surcharge, need a building permit.Pavers themselves rarely fail. The base under them does. When a patio dips, heaves or grows weeds in every joint, we lift the affected area, rebuild and compact the base, relay and re-sand. See paver patio repair and leveling.
Concrete pavers made to ASTM C936 must average at least 8,000 psi compressive strength, far stronger than poured patio concrete.Soggy spots, dry patches, a water bill that jumped, or a head that geysers when the system kicks on. We track down leaks and repair sprinkler systems, adjust coverage, and convert beds to drip so water goes to roots instead of sidewalks.
A leak in an irrigation system as small as 1/32 inch can waste about 6,300 gallons of water a month, according to EPA WaterSense. What We Build
Our work falls into six families. Each heading links to the main service page.
New landscapes for new builds and tired yards: layout, grading, planting beds, paths, rock and bark, all designed around how you use the yard and how water moves across it. We favor plants that handle wet winters and dry summers, including native plants and rain gardens, and finish with bark dust or rock.
Washington State University and the state Department of Ecology publish a Rain Garden Handbook for Western Washington because rain gardens are a recommended way to soak up roof and driveway runoff on site.Weekly and biweekly mowing, edging and striping, plus the repair work that keeps lawns thick: aeration, dethatching and overseeding, moss treatment and sod installation. For spots grass will never like, we install artificial turf and dog runs.
Lawns in Western Washington are cool-season grasses, mostly perennial ryegrass and fine fescue blends, which grow strongest in spring and fall.French drains, downspout drain lines, catch basins, dry creeks, regrading and slope stabilization. Drainage is the first thing we look at on almost every property, because it decides whether everything built on top lasts. We also restore gravel driveways that rut and puddle every winter.
NOAA 1991 to 2020 normals: 52.37 inches of rain a year in Battle Ground and 48.12 inches over 192 rainy days in Longview.Paver patios, walkways, landings and fire pit areas, plus drained segmental block retaining walls with steps and seat walls. Every hardscape starts with excavation and a compacted base, which is what keeps pavers flat and walls straight through freeze, thaw and saturation.
Concrete pavers carry the load as a flexible system, so a single cracked or sunken paver can be lifted and replaced without breaking out the whole patio.New sprinkler systems for lawns, drip irrigation for beds, conversions from spray to drip, smart controllers, and sprinkler repair and leak detection. Our dry summers make irrigation worth getting right, and our wet winters make it worth draining properly.
As much as 50 percent of water used outdoors is wasted through evaporation, wind or runoff from inefficient irrigation, according to EPA WaterSense.Spring and fall cleanups, leaf removal, storm debris, overgrown yard restoration, blackberry and ivy removal, hedge trimming and pre-sale cleanups for homes going on the market. We haul debris away so you are not left with a pile.
Yard trimmings made up about 12 percent of all municipal solid waste generated in the U.S. in 2018, according to the EPA.Our Work, Before & After
Every photo on this site is from a job our crew did. Here are a few, start to finish.
Water sat on this yard all winter and moss took over. We dethatched, regraded the yard so runoff moves away from the patio, brought in fresh soil and laid new sod.
We built this segmental block wall with perforated drain pipe, drain rock and filter fabric behind it, so water drains instead of pushing on the wall. Built-in steps lead down to a new paver landing.
A stand of tall cane growth had swallowed this backyard. We cut it down, pulled the roots with a mini excavator, then finished the space with sod, a planting bed and a row of arborvitae for privacy.
The old gravel along this asphalt drive had thinned out and grown weeds. We restored it with a fresh layer of crushed gravel, kept clean around the storm drain catch basin.

Moss wins where grass struggles: shade, compacted or acidic soil, and ground that stays wet through winter. Lasting fixes deal with those causes through aeration, overseeding, liming where a soil test calls for it, better drainage or new sod on regraded soil.
Under the residential code used in Washington, walls over 4 feet measured from the bottom of the footing, or walls holding back a slope, driveway or structure, usually need a permit. Your city or county has the final say, and we check before building.
Usually, yes. We find where the water comes from and where it can safely go, then use regrading, French drains, downspout lines, catch basins or a rain garden to move it. See our drainage page.
Yes. We maintain and improve grounds for businesses, HOAs and property managers. See commercial landscaping.
Planting and sod do best in spring and early fall. Drainage, walls and hardscapes can be built most of the year as long as the ground is not saturated. Call early, because spring books up fast.
